DVSA Bus Fire Investigations report 2020/22
This report sets out the findings of their investigation into bus fires reported to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) from January 2020 to September 2022, the report reveals important lessons for the industry to take forwards.
Operators are required by law to report a vehicle catching fire, but a number of reports have poor information and are submitted to the DVSA a long time after the fire has happened.
DVSA remind operators of the importance of reporting incidents of fires as soon as possible when information is still fresh in the minds of those involved. Early reporting can help explain the sequence of events and provide valuable information into the diagnosis of what led to the fire.
