The UK Government informed the UNECE earlier this year of their intention to change the national identifier for GB registered vehicles from GB to UK

This change officially takes place on 28 September 2021, from this date a vehicle registered in Great Britain will need to display a UK sign on the rear of the vehicle

Vehicles that have a number plate with a UK identifier and a Union Flag will meet this requirement (Spain, Malta & Cyprus do not recognise a UK number plate and therefore when driving in these countries a separate UK sign will be necessary)

Vehicles with other number plate configurations such as those showing:

•            a GB identifier with the Union Flag

•            a Euro symbol

•            a national flag of England, Scotland or Wales

•            numbers and letters only - no flag or identifier

It will be required to display a separate UK sign.  GB stickers will need to be covered or removed.
